Tuskawilla Middle School 6th grader’s winning design, chosen from over 50 entries, will be distributed across Seminole County

SANFORD, Fla. (April 10, 2026) — In a surprise classroom visit filled with excitement, Amy Pennock, the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections, announced the winner of the first-ever “I Voted” Sticker Contest today, unveiling the student-created sticker that voters will receive across Seminole County in the 2026 elections.

The surprise announcement marked the culmination of a countywide call for entries earlier this year, inviting elementary and middle school students to submit original artwork representing the importance of voting and civic participation. The winning design was selected from more than 50 student submissions across Seminole County.

Arwen Yan, a 6th-grade student at Tuskawilla Middle School, created the winning design, which features a bold and patriotic composition centered around a soaring bald eagle. The eagle, with wings fully extended in flight, clutches an American flag that flows dynamically beneath it, symbolizing strength, freedom, and national pride.

Olivia Manzone, the art teacher who assigned the project and submitted the artwork, explained, “I thought this really represented what the freedom to vote is, with our iconic eagle and the flag. It really summed up being proud of voting and exercising the right to vote.”

Framed within a circular badge, the design incorporates classic red, white, and blue elements, including prominent stars on either side and the handwritten phrase “I Voted,” accented with patriotic stripes. The use of vibrant color and movement gives the sticker a sense of energy and celebration, capturing both the significance of voting and the spirit of American democracy.

“Today’s winning design is a reminder that civic pride starts early,” said Supervisor of Elections Amy Pennock. “It’s incredibly meaningful to see students engage in the democratic process in such a creative way. We’re proud to share this student’s work with voters across our county.”

“I thought it was a really cool idea… that a lot of people will be wearing your thing,” said Arwen Yan. “I’m still in shock.”

Tuskawilla Middle School Principal Randy Shuler kept the surprise to himself until the announcement. “I’m very proud to have a Titan be the very first to have this honor. Congratulations, Arwen!” said Shuler.

School board members Autumn Garick, Kristine Kraus, and Abby Sanchez joined Arwen’s parents, students, teachers, and school staff for the surprise announcement, as the winning artist was recognized and the design was revealed for the first time. The sticker will be printed and distributed to voters at polling locations across Seminole County during the 2026 election cycle.

The “I Voted” Sticker Contest is part of the Seminole County Supervisor of Elections Office’s ongoing efforts to engage young residents and foster early interest in civic participation.
